It was dark and the sound of a strange propulsion system brought Moses back to consciousness. He slowly opened his eyes, and instantly regretted it as a throbbing pain coursed through his head. It felt just as bad as the hangover he first had when this whole mess started. He wished the last few days had just been a drunken induced nightmare.

He took a deep breath and once more opened his eyes. The pain hit him again but he clenched his jaw against it. His eyes adjusted to the dim room quickly and he saw that he was not alone.

Lying next to him and looking peaceful and calm was Tanya. Her hair had fallen onto her face, which he gently moved and brushed back behind her ear.

He smiled slightly remembering the kiss;’ it was probably a heat of the moment thing’, he thought somewhat regretfully.

It had been six years since his wife had left him. She had never understood his job, how could she? She had been a banker on Wall Street. All she had cared about was money, and her bank balance. Whereas he foolishly thought, that he could make a difference to the world. The quest for peace certainly wasn’t very peaceful itself. He had lost count of the number of colleagues he had seen broken by the job. Even killed.

He was lost in his thoughts as Tanya’s eyes flickered open. She too winced against the pain in her head.

“Ugh, what happened?” she said groggily.

“Hey, relax take it easy,” Replied Moses as he knelt down next to her and helped get her into a sitting position.

“I don’t know what happened, the last thing I can remember was talking to the Olmeca and standing over the body of that creature.”

The room in which they were in was only a few meters across; it could easily hold the two of them. Moses walked to the seemingly open door and was surprised to find out that some sort of energy field was blocking him from leaving. He put his hand to it but was unable to push through the invisible barrier.

“Damn, must be some sort of force field or something else straight out of a sci-fi novel,” he said annoyed.

Tanya smiled at that. Moses was a strange man; on the surface, he seemed so confident and capable yet vulnerable at the same time. The last few days together she had learnt how he reacted to situations, he was brave, and yet, just as scared by their surreal situation as any of them.

“Where are the others do you think?” she asked.

“I’m guessing not far from here, this place looks like some sort of jail cell, and from what little I could see through the magic door over there;’ he said sarcastically, “there are other cells up the corridor.”

The sound of marching footsteps came from further up the small corridor. Moses and Tanya moved to the centre of their cell and waited. One of the figures stood outside their cell and peered in at them.
